Introductions of Coated Fiberglass Cloth

Coated fiberglass cloth is a high-performance composite material made by coating the surface of fiberglass cloth substrate with functional materials. Classified by the coating substances, it mainly includes Silicone / PU / Vermiculite / Calcium Silicate / PTFE / Acrylic / PVC, with their respective characteristics and application scopes as follows:

PU Coated Fiberglass Cloth

Silicone Coated Fiberglass Fabric

It is produced by coating polyurethane (PU) on fiberglass cloth substrate. It can withstand a continuous working temperature of 550℃, featuring excellent fire retardancy, water and oil resistance. The cloth is sturdy, wear-resistant and has a long service life, with customizable colors available. It is widely used in fire protection systems such as fire curtains, smoke curtains and fire barriers, as well as in thermal insulation material fields.

Silicone Coated Fiberglass Cloth

PTFE Coated Fiberglass Cloth

Silicone rubber is adopted as its coating material. It boasts high flexibility, good weather resistance and electrical insulation performance, and can be used in a wide temperature range—remaining soft at low temperatures and enduring certain high temperatures. It is commonly applied in high-temperature protection, industrial sealing and electrical insulation fields, such as welding protection blankets, external cladding for pipe thermal insulation, and insulation protection of electrical equipment.

PTFE Coated Fiberglass Cloth

PU Coated Fiberglass Cloth

It is manufactured by impregnating high-performance fiberglass cloth with suspended polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) emulsion. It can be used in an extreme temperature range from -196℃ to 350℃, with outstanding weather resistance and anti-aging properties. Meanwhile, it has excellent non-stick performance, strong chemical corrosion resistance and a low friction coefficient, as well as high insulation, UV resistance and anti-static properties. It is extensively used in aerospace, papermaking, food, environmental protection and other industries, serving as non-stick inner linings, gaskets, cover cloths and conveyor belts, and also applied in electrical insulation and architectural membrane materials.

FAQ – Coated Fiberglass Cloth

Q1. What is the purpose of coating fiberglass cloth?
Coatings enhance the cloth’s performance by adding heat resistance, abrasion protection, waterproofing, chemical resistance, or improved handling properties. Each coating provides unique advantages for specific applications.

Q2. What is the highest temperature the coated fiberglass cloth can withstand?
Depending on the coating type, the cloth can resist temperatures from 260°C up to 550°C. Some coatings (like vermiculite or calcium silicate) are designed for extreme thermal environments.

Q3. What industries commonly use coated fiberglass cloth?
It is widely used in insulation, fire protection, welding protection, expansion joints, industrial sealing, and high-temperature equipment covers.

Q4. Can I customize the weight, thickness, or color?
Yes. Weight (105–1750 g/m²), thickness, coating color, weave type, and roll width can all be customized.

Q5. Are coated fiberglass cloths fireproof?
Fiberglass itself is non-combustible. When combined with heat-resistant coatings (e.g., vermiculite, silicone, calcium silicate), the material provides excellent flame resistance and is suitable for fire-protection applications.
