Introduction of Bagging Film

JLON vacuum bagging film is a strong, flexible, multilayer nylon film designed for vacuum infusion, vacuum bagging and composite curing processes.

With high elongation, reliable mechanical strength and widths up to 12 meters, the film conforms closely to complex mould surfaces and helps maintain a stable vacuum throughout the manufacturing cycle. The wide format reduces seams on large composite parts, lowering the risk of air leakage and material waste.

JLON supplies vacuum bagging film in different thicknesses, widths, roll lengths, colors and folded formats to meet the requirements of marine, wind energy, automotive and general industrial composite production.

Features of Bagging Film

Multilayer Vacuum Security

The multilayer co-extruded construction helps reduce the risk caused by pinholes, weak spots and inconsistencies in single-layer film.

High Elongation

Elongation up to 350% allows the film to conform to curved surfaces, corners and complex mould geometries while reducing bridging.

Reliable Mechanical Strength

Good tensile strength helps the film withstand handling, vacuum pressure and movement during composite processing.

Wide Film up to 12 Meters

Wide bagging film reduces the number of seams required for wind turbine blades, marine structures and other large composite components.

Stable Performance at Elevated Temperatures

BF65 is suitable for composite curing processes with working temperatures up to 170°C, subject to the actual curing cycle and processing conditions.

Flexible Supply Options

Thickness, width, roll length, color and folding format can be selected according to the mould size and production process.

Typical Uses  of Bagging Film

JLON nylon vacuum bagging film is suitable for a wide range of composite manufacturing processes.

Vacuum Infusion

The film creates an airtight enclosure over the mould and laminate, allowing vacuum pressure to compact the reinforcement and draw resin through the laminate.

Wet Lay-Up Vacuum Bagging

It helps consolidate wet laminates, remove trapped air and improve laminate uniformity.

Prepreg and Oven Curing

High-temperature nylon bagging film can be used to maintain vacuum pressure during compatible prepreg and oven-curing cycles.

Large Composite Components

Wide-format film is especially suitable for components where excessive seams would increase labour and leakage risk.

bagging film application

Industries We Serve

Wind Energy

Used in the vacuum infusion and curing of:

· Wind turbine blades

· Nacelle covers

· Blade moulds

· Composite structural components

Wide film reduces seaming work and helps maintain a stable vacuum across large mould surfaces.

Marine and Boatbuilding

Suitable for the production of:

· FRP boat hulls

· Decks

· Bulkheads

· Hatches

· Composite sandwich panels

· Yacht components

The high elongation helps the film follow curved hull and deck geometries.

Automotive and Transportation

Used for carbon fiber and fiberglass composite components manufactured through vacuum bagging, infusion or compatible curing processes.

Pipes and Tanks

Suitable for large FRP pipes, chemical tanks, pressure-resistant composite components and industrial mouldings.

Sports and Industrial Composites

Used for composite boards, shells, panels, equipment housings and other fiberglass or carbon fiber parts.

How to Select Vacuum Bagging Film

The correct film should be selected according to the curing temperature, mould geometry, component size and manufacturing process.

Selection Factor

Recommendation

Curing temperature

Select a film with sufficient temperature resistance for the complete curing cycle

Complex geometry

Use film with high elongation to reduce bridging around corners and recesses

Large mould size

Use wide or folded film to reduce seams and leakage points

Sharp edges

Add suitable protective materials to prevent punctures

Vacuum infusion

Confirm compatibility with resin, sealant tape and other consumables

Oven curing

Check maximum temperature and duration before production

Autoclave curing

Confirm temperature, pressure and curing cycle before selecting the grade

Flat, V-Fold and W-Fold Bagging Film

JLON offers different film formats to simplify storage, handling and deployment.

Flat Film

Suitable for smaller moulds and applications where the required film width can be supplied and handled directly.

V-Fold Film

The film is folded once along its width. This allows a wider film to be packed in a narrower roll and opened during application.

W-Fold Film

The film is folded multiple times to accommodate very wide products, making large-format film easier to transport, store and unfold over the mould.

The most appropriate format depends on the final unfolded width, mould size and production method.

Compatible Vacuum Infusion Consumables

Peel Ply

Creates a clean, textured surface after removal and reduces the need for mechanical sanding before secondary bonding.

Release Film

Separates the laminate from the breather or flow media and helps control resin or air movement according to the perforation pattern.

Infusion Mesh

Promotes efficient resin flow across the laminate during vacuum infusion.

Breather Fabric

Provides an air path and absorbs excess resin in suitable vacuum bagging or prepreg processes.

Sealant Tape

Seals the bagging film to the mould flange and helps maintain an airtight vacuum system.

Spiral Tube and Flow Tube

Used for resin distribution and vacuum extraction during the infusion process.

FAQs of Bagging Film

What is vacuum bagging film?

Vacuum bagging film is an airtight flexible film used to enclose a composite laminate during vacuum infusion, vacuum bagging or curing. A vacuum is drawn inside the sealed bag to compact the laminate and remove trapped air.

What is JLON vacuum bagging film made of?

BF65 is made from multilayer co-extruded nylon film. The multilayer construction provides improved reliability against weak spots and film inconsistencies.

What is the maximum working temperature of BF65?

BF65 has a stated maximum working temperature of 170°C. Actual suitability depends on the complete curing temperature, duration, vacuum pressure and processing conditions.

What thicknesses are available?

Standard thickness options include 50 μm, 65 μm and 75 μm. Availability may vary according to the selected width and roll length.

What is the maximum available width?

JLON can supply vacuum bagging film with widths up to 12 meters, including folded formats for easier handling and transportation.

Why is film elongation important?

High elongation allows the film to stretch over corners, curves and complex mould surfaces. This reduces bridging and helps the film conform more closely to the laminate.

Can the film be used for vacuum infusion?

Yes. BF65 is suitable for vacuum infusion and general vacuum bagging applications within its specified processing limits.

Can BF65 be used in an autoclave?

BF65 should not automatically be selected for autoclave use. Autoclave applications require confirmation of pressure, maximum temperature and curing duration. JLON can recommend another suitable grade after reviewing these conditions.

What is the difference between flat, V-fold and W-fold film?

Flat film is supplied at its normal roll width. V-fold and W-fold film are folded across their width, allowing very wide film to be packed and handled in a narrower roll.

Is the film compatible with epoxy, polyester and vinyl ester resin?

It is commonly used in composite processes involving these resin systems. However, customers should test the complete material combination under their actual temperature and processing conditions before production.

How can vacuum leakage be reduced?

Use the correct film thickness, avoid sharp edges, leave sufficient film for corners, prevent bridging, inspect the film before use and apply compatible sealant tape to a clean mould flange.

Can I request a sample?

Yes. Please provide the required temperature, thickness, width, manufacturing process and application. A suitable sample can be recommended after the specification is confirmed.
